NFL Draft open thread
Sun Apr 27, 2008 at 11:26:32 AM PDT
I am a longtime NE Patriots fan - I Suffered for oh those many years. Even when the Patriots had some good teams they still somehow were a laughingstock. About 2.5 years ago I moved to the desert (PHX) so now I am a Cardinals fan too.
Puppy and pootie pix thread
Tue Jan 01, 2008 at 06:50:13 PM PDT
Philly Gal was asking at some point for a pootie pic thread. I am going to put up some pictures of some pets, not my own, but those of my sister and my father.
I have a small condo in a densly populated area and it is just too much trouble to have a dog that i can't just open the door and toss him out. So while I really enjoy having dogs around, I am pretty much limited to those of my sister and my Dad. The family all gathers usually twice a year at her house, which is a great out in the boonies location with a lot of yard space (i am talking you can't see the nearest neighbor) and her two dogs, Coco and Cinnamon, can run around to their hearts content.
My Dad brings along his king Charles cocker spaniel Mac who is a lot of fun too.

The Shocking Ignorance of Kossacks about my Fantasy Football League
Mon Jul 16, 2007 at 12:23:26 PM PDT
UPDATED: The league is now full. Thank you for your interest!
This is a 10 team yahoo league, so far we have 5 teams. Two Patriots fans, two kossacks, and me. (I am a Patriots fan and a Kossack.)
Live draft, we need 5 more! The live online draft is set for Sat Aug 25 6:00am MST
Please don't sign up if you aren't going to follow thru, it only takes a few minutes to fill out your lineup.
We had a good league and a lot of fun last year, looking forward to more of the same this year.
Bottom line: the polls didn't support defunding
Mon May 28, 2007 at 08:27:09 PM PDT
I am sorry, I don't have a link. But it has been pointed out that polling supported a forced removal from the occupation - however the same poll showed strong opposition to defunding the troops.

Another Kossack Fantasy Football League
Thu Aug 31, 2006 at 03:56:00 AM PDT
I have seen at least two other Kossack football leagues so I thought I would try running one. I have a shell of a "Yahoo Plus" league that collapsed. This is a premium league, if you sign up you get free StatTracker and a few other bennies.
NJ - Sen : Kean leading according to one poll
Wed Aug 30, 2006 at 09:22:52 AM PDT
One Poll is showing a very close race. Everything else that I have seen is showing Menendez with a safe lead. Is this poll an outlier?
It might be more of the "Blackwell effect" - people who ordinarily would vote for their parties' candidate won't do so for reasons of bigotry.
Democratic strategist Rick Thigpen said Menendez will win the election if voters go to the polls with national issues on their minds.
"This year (Kean's) candidacy is haunted by the undeniable reality that a vote for Kean is really supporting President Bush and more of the same at the national level," Thigpen said.
Republican strategist Mark Campbell said the poll "clearly points to a possible Menendez campaign train wreck."
"Tom Kean is viewed as independent and someone who can bring change to Washington, as his father did with the 9/11 Commission," Campbell said. "If Tom Kean Jr. raises the money, he wins. It's just that simple."
Sorry for the short diary but I have not seen anything similar to this on the FP so I thought it was deserving of a diary.
Bush and gas prices
Sat Aug 12, 2006 at 02:38:41 AM PDT
I wanted to post this but openthread won't let me. I REALLY want to post this and I am insomniac so I will enter a diary for it.
Bush's popularity is closely tied to gas prices. This graph is presented with a hat tip to Mydd.
Look for free gas in October. Thanks in advance, Saudi Arabia and Exxon!
Payback's a bitch: Moneychangers edition

The religious right has long been part of the right wing noise machine. When the democrats take over the legislature, will there be payback? More and a poll after the dividing line....

Progressive agenda and rent-to-own
Mon Jun 12, 2006 at 03:25:54 PM PDT
According to my crude calculation from
THIS site, multiplying renter-occupied apartments by the median monthly rent comes out to an annual cost of $262 billion paid by renters to landlords, with nothing of lasting value returned.

The Dems problems with Senior Citizens
Wed Jun 07, 2006 at 09:30:55 AM PDT
One thing stands out in the election results: Senior citizens are stubbornly voting republican. They vote Republican because they think of them as conservatives who are more responsible and stronger in defense, which is not true.

Roll call for former TUs
Fri Jun 02, 2006 at 10:58:21 PM PDT
I am a former TU. Kos came back from his tour to kick ass and take names and I am among the fallen.
So anyway, in the spirit of WYFP, if you choose to be counted, post here if you are a former TU and a little about your contributions to the community and what TU means to you.
Neocons = Yippies + Poll
Mon May 29, 2006 at 09:07:35 AM PDT
I have long felt the 1984 republican national convention was the Woodstock of the republican right. Now the 25 years of the Reagan Revolution is coming to an end. Dubya and the Neocons will be the swearwords that Jimmy Carter and the word 'Liberal' used to be.
Time to get real
Sun May 21, 2006 at 08:34:54 PM PDT
The Republicans have been living in a kind of right wing dream world and have used corporate campaign support and a compliant MSM to drag this entire nation along with them. It is time for this to stop and the Democrats should be saying it is time to GET REAL.
More, and a poll, after the fold...
